HOW DO YOU MAKE SURE STUDENTS HAVE MASTERED THE STANDARD?
FROM THE BLOG: How do you make sure that your students have mastered 1st Grade Common Core Math Standards? We always relied on our curriculum to teach the standards, until we moved to a standards-based report card. At that point, we needed to find an easier way to make sure our kiddos were mastering the standards while still following our curriculum (our math curriculum is amazing, but it sort of hops – and I needed something that was straight forward – they mastered 10 sheets of this standard, so YAY – they know this standard…)
I’m not sure where you are or what your district does, but if you want an easy way to make sure your students are mastering the skills needed (aka standards) here are some fun and easy ways to check that off your list! Speaking of CHECK IT OFF – I have a free check-list for you to grab BELOW!

These boom cards were PERFECT! I love how there was a set for each short and long vowel. I incorporated these boom cards into our morning review and my students loved it! I love these because the students have to slow down and read each word on the card rather than quickly clicking (even though some students didn’t take the time to read each word). I also used these boom cards in place of paper pencil work during center time and to see who understood long and short vowels.

Great resource to allow my students the time to practice skills we have been working on. They really have to think about the vowel teams for each picture/word which is great.

These are great. I have tested them and students are using them this week as we begin our curriculum. I am so excited to have a quick method that is engaging and fun for my students. This is my first time using Boom cards and I am sold. Also, I contacted the creator of this product when I couldn’t access them and she was incredibly supportive, helpful, and quick to respond. I greatly appreciate her assistance. Thank you again!
