HOW IT WORKS:

Here's how we made this work for us:  I put ten copies of a writing page in sheet protectors (and about 5 different topic pages - so five different sheet protectors).  These go into a binder in the writing center.  When students are in the writing center, they grab binder, find a page that they want to work on, pull it out of the sheet protector and then begin their writing.  It's easy to manage, easy to store, and it gives just the right amount of choice for first graders. We've also done it where there are about 20 different pages in a binder and students write their story and keep it in the binder.  Once the stories are complete, these become a book binder in our center.  But I found the top suggestion works better for us.

What others have to say: 📢

  • My students love creative writing! Thank you!

  • This resource really enhanced my lessons on the importance of setting in both our reading and in our writing.

  • Very nice print and go activity for my writing center that provides room for creative writing.

  • My students love these. They're easy to use and students can write their own stories independently during centers. Very little prep for me which is a plus.
