Magnetic Tile Task Cards, Dinosaur Light Table Activities

Magnetic tile task cards get a prehistoric twist with these Dinosaur Light Table Activities, designed to bring hands-on building fun to math centers, STEM stations, and morning work routines. Kids use magnetic tiles they already have in the classroom to recreate dinosaur scenes, matching shapes and colors to the image on each card.

Every card shows a completed dinosaur build along with a shape key, so students can plan, gather, and construct independently. A matching recording sheet lets kids count up the shapes and colors they need before they start building, sneaking in real math practice without it feeling like a worksheet.

HOW IT WORKS:

• Students look at the card and identify the shapes and colors needed
• They gather the correct magnetic tiles and build to match the image
• The recording sheet adds a counting and sorting component before building begins
• A shape key on every card keeps students working independently

SKILLS COVERED:

• Spatial awareness and visual thinking
• Fine motor development through hands-on building
• Composing 2D shapes into larger composite shapes
• Covers Common Core standards K.G.B.5, K.G.B.6, and 1.G.A.2

WHY TEACHERS LOVE IT:

• Print and play, no extra materials needed beyond existing magnetic tile sets
• Works great for centers, early finishers, and independent work
• Laminate for repeated use across the school year
• Screen-free and self-checking, keeps students focused without teacher support

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

• Dinosaur magnetic tile building cards
• Color and shape counting recording sheets
• Shape key printed directly on each card
