Christmas Coding Robot Activity Mats for Counting to 10

Christmas coding robot activity mats make it easy to introduce beginning coding while students practice counting to 10 and comparing items. Kids read a task card, find the matching picture on the grid, and program their coding robot to travel to the right spot.

The festive pictures keep K-2 learners engaged during December math centers, small groups, or early finisher time. Students build counting, sequencing, and problem solving skills all in one hands-on activity.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

• 23 task cards for counting and comparing
• 24 picture cards that make a 4x6 grid mat
• Answer document so students can check their work after the coding robot stops

WHAT YOU NEED:

• A programmable coding robot, which is not included. Use the one you already have in your classroom.
• A plastic grid mat, which is also not included
• Printer, paper, and scissors to prep the cards

HOW THIS WORKS:

• Lay out the picture cards in a 4x6 grid
• Students pick a task card and find the matching picture on the mat
• They plan the path and program the coding robot to move there
• Students record the movements on the coding sheet
• They flip to the answer document to check if the robot landed on the correct picture
