Christmas Coding Robot Activity Mats for Beginners K-2

Looking for a Christmas coding robot activity that introduces early coding while building comparing skills? Students look at a task card, find the matching reindeer picture on the grid, then program their coding robot to travel to the correct square.

Matching, sequencing, and problem solving come together in one festive center. It is a simple way to bring coding into your December plans without any extra prep headaches.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

• 23 task cards with reindeer pictures to match
• 24 picture cards that make a 4x6 grid
• Answer document so students can check their work after the coding robot reaches its spot
• Coding sheet for recording each movement

IMPORTANT NOTE:

• The coding robot is not included. Use the programmable coding robot you already have in your classroom.
• The clear plastic mat is not included.

HOW THIS WORKS:

• Lay out the picture cards in a 4x6 grid on the mat.
• Students pick a task card and compare it to the reindeer pictures.
• They plan the path and program the coding robot to move to the matching picture.
• Students record the steps on the coding sheet.
• They use the answer document to self-check.
